Any scholarships which need to be refunded will be refunded to the ICRPD Scholarhip fund, not the registering party.

Iredell County Parks and Recreation Department Youth Athletic Scholarships

Our Purpose:

Iredell County is committed to supporting quality youth athletics to all youth citizens, in Iredell County, regardless of financial need. The purpose of this policy is to set standards for the distribution of scholarships for Youth Athletics in Iredell County. Iredell County Athletics Scholarships are available to those between the ages of 4-18 years old.

Funding:

Iredell County Youth Athletics Scholarships are a result of funding that stems from two sources, voluntary donations by both individuals and businesses, and allocation from County Commissioners. These funds are available on a rolling basis. Scholarships are distributed on a first come, first served basis, and will only be available as long as funds are available.

Eligibility:

Youth Athletics Scholarships will be available to Iredell County Residents, with valid proof of residence. Scholarships can be applied to all youth sports offered by non-profit organizations in Iredell County. To be eligible for Youth Athletics Scholarships, applicants must provide documentation that supports financial need with up-to-date acceptance letters or current and approved registration materials from SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Free and Reduced-Price Meals (ISS School Nutrition Program), Medicaid, or subsidized housing.

Participant Costs & Processing Timeline:

Scholarships apply to youth athletics that exceed $15 or more, per person. Applicants are responsible for 25% of registration costs, Iredell County will cover the remaining 75%. Please note: Applicants must apply for a scholarship 15 days prior to the registration deadline to allow enough time for processing, failure to do so may result in the denial of the application.
